A person who reports a breach in good faith is protected under the Whistleblower Protection Act.
No retaliation may be taken against a whistleblower, including in particular: termination of employment, reduction of pay, being passed over for promotion, a negative appraisal, unfavourable change of working conditions, or any other unequal treatment because of the report.
Protection applies regardless of whether the report is anonymous or includes contact details. Knowingly reporting false information is not protected.
In the event of retaliation, the whistleblower may pursue their rights, including before a court.
